Daring to Be Different – Habits Biz Women Embody To Make It All Work

07/17/2017 By Linda Hampton Leave a Comment

You have probably heard the phrase, “there’s one in every crowd.” Usually, it’s associated with someone who behaves Habits differently than the rest of the crowd. It’s often looked upon as a negative quality.  What’s wrong with being different? Each of us has unique traits that separate us from everyone else.  Why not play up on those differences?

The problem is we are taught to conform to the norms of society. While there are valid reasons for some conformity, we should also dare to be different. That’s what makes life interesting.  Besides, we can learn a lot from being different, and others can learn from that as well.

How do you stand out from the crowd? The first step is to adjust your attitude.  Realize that not everyone is going to be accepting of your changes.  These are people who tend to be narrow-minded. Also, consider there will be people who embrace your changes.

Even though people will eventually come around to you being different, give it some time. People have to get used to the new you, or at least what they perceive to be new.  After a while, you’ll learn who your true friends are. Even among family members, you’ll find some will be more accepting than others. However, most family members will eventually see you for who you really are.

If you are still struggling to find the motivation to be different, try finding others who find it easy to do so.  They face the concept of being different easily.  They can offer tips and inspiration and will often hang out in crowds of others who don’t seem to care what people think. Just be careful not to get involved with people who have ill intent towards others. There is a thin line between being different and being someone who will get into trouble with the law.

Sometimes, it’s best to start out slow so that people can adjust gradually.  If there are many changes you’d like to make in your life and feel others won’t easily accept, take those changes slowly and see how people react. Then, as they become familiar with your changes, you can introduce more as you go.

Don’t hold yourself back just because you think people may not like you for who you are.  While it’s okay to make changes gradually, you are the one living your life, so you want to be true to yourself.
